Giridih Lok Sabha candidate from JBKSS, Jairam Mahato, faced arrest in Bokaro on Wednesday following a pending case. The arrest occurred as Mahato, after filing his nomination papers before District Election Officer Bokaro Vijaya Jaghav, was taken into custody by Nagari police from Ranchi. Despite completing his nomination process, Mahato was apprehended upon exiting the Bokaro DC office, leading to uproar among his supporters and a significant police presence.
The arrest stems from a case related to assembly siege, for which Ranchi Police had issued a warrant against Mahato. Nagari DSP and Inspector from Ranchi were dispatched to effect the arrest, leading to a chaotic scene as Mahato's supporters protested the detainment. While Mahato denounced the arrest as a conspiracy and targeted the government, police executed the arrest based on case number 48/22 of Nagdi police station. The incident unfolded amidst a gathering of Mahato's supporters at the Bokaro DC office, where he was informed about the warrant by the Nagdi police station DSP and accompanying officers.
